Community Engagement

Robust community engagement has been a pillar of our process for Waterfront Park Phase IV, with thousands of connections through public meetings, speaking engagements, public relations, advertising and media outreach, social media, newsletters, and grassroots engagement from the beginning of the master planning process in 2013 through the present.  The Master Plan was developed with the input of a task force of community and government leaders, business owners and residents from the Portland and Russell neighborhoods and formally adopted by Louisville Metro Government in 2015.

PlayPort Engagement:

In December of 2018, in advance of the design process for PlayPort, we held community engagement workshops in the Portland and Russell neighborhoods.  The feedback inspired the concept and schematic designs for PlayPort.   Additionally, between December 2020 and March 2021, we conducted virtual presentations and extensive online outreach through an informational website and feedback survey, then coordinated with over 100 representatives of community groups and businesses in Russell, Portland, and Downtown to disseminate to their constituencies. This effort yielded substantial connection with over 3,600 unique website visits and 977 completed long form surveys which informed final design development.

Waterfront Park will continue to solicit the input of residents, community organizations, and local businesses on an ongoing basis throughout the design and construction of Phase IV.
